Capla Spirit improved for being gelded and ended last year with a novice success at Southwell. Shepherds Way won a nursery at Musselburgh in September, though is 8lb higher today having switched to Julie Camacho’s yard subsequently, while Veleta returns to action raised 5lb for winning a handicap at Chelmsford in November. The latter has also had no luck with the draw so a speculative vote goes to SAMPERS SEVEN, who beat a subsequent winner when landing a maiden at Dundalk last year and is fitted with headgear on her first start for Mick Appleby with Tom Marquand’s presence another positive. Bartat makes a quick reappearance after placing at Lingfield a couple of days ago and may figure again.
