Verdict
Sommersturm has had 10 starts on the all-weather without reaching a place but that's unlikely to be reflected in his starting price. Golden Flight has an even poorer record having had 19 unplaced career starts but the Irish raider did much better when stepped up to this trip at Dundalk last month. Black Iceman had looked ready to win soon before his latest run at Kempton in November, which should be ignored as he hung very badly and finished tailed off. Magnitude doesn't have much of a record on the all-weather but he's not badly handicapped nowadays and has taken a slight drop in class, but a chance is taken on the veteran NEAR GERMANY. He attracted plenty of support despite returning from a break of over three years in a hurdle race at Folkestone in November where he fell when still in front, though tiring, at the last. Hathaway has been staying on over shorter and can alsoget involved.
