Stir Trader struck the crossbar in four maidens on Turf before finally getting off the mark over 6f here. The assessor hasn't been hard on him and another furlong shouldn't prove a problem. LIGHT FROM MARS won the Newbury Spring Cup last year off a mark of 97 but hadn't won subsequently and had plummeted down the weights as a consequence before taking advantage over the C&D last time and, with just a 4lb rise to contend, with can complete a quick double. Chokidar was in fine form around this time a year ago and was having his first start since scoring here in December when a close third at Goodwood in August. He'll make a bold bid under his promising claimer while it's about time Buckland was losing his maiden tag and he ran really well the last time he performed on this track.
