Gordonsville has a chance to finally break the duck at the expense of Sweet Request and Winning Show. Andrew Balding's stable are in much better nick of late and it is hoped that the handler has found a weak enough opportunity for this perennial placer to finally get his head infront. The previous efforts suggest that he is one to be wary of at very short prices but in his defence, there is nothing of that ability apparently lurking in this race. Sweet Request has become frustrating as a betting medium. Her all-weather efforts have looked ugly. Winning Show is stepped up from sprint trips and may have more joy at these distances if his breeding is anything to go by. Gatecrasher has shown nil of note this year while Mark Of The Fen has looked to be a very expensive day at the sales for someone although his second racecourse start did appear to be something of an improvement. A modest finale with more sob stories than an X Factor audition show and it is to Gordsonville that we offer the most tentative of votes.
