always prominent, led over 2f out, soon ridden, kept on, headed close home
held up in touch, headway on inside 2f out, ran on inside final furlong
A rather disappointing turn out for the decent prize money on offer and this looks a good opportunity for J M W Turner. Nick Littmoden's progressive four-year-old has developed in to one of the leading sprinters on the all-weather this winter with victories in valuable handicaps both here and at Lingfield last time. The son of Forzando has been campaigned mainly over five and six furlongs recently but stays this trip and should prove hard to beat with race conditions in his favour. Granny's Pet, who makes his all-weather debut at the ripe old age of nine, is a smart performer on turf who is best with give in the ground. He should adapt to this surface but faces no easy task conceding 6lb to the selection on his first start for over four months. Middleton Grey was an impressive course and distance winner in November but ran poorly last time and has plenty to find on these terms. Rafferty needs to improve to figure and will be sharper for the outing en route to a possible tilt at the Lincoln in two weeks time.
