Races of this type can often produce surprising results and, as such, nothing can confidently be ruled out here. The short list includes Awesome Wells, who was rated 82 on the Flat, and has obvious claims on his hurdles form to date. He is the one to beat if he runs up to his best - his rider's 8lb claim will also enhance his chance today. Mystic Ridge is one to consider for a place if the pointers from the betting ring indicate that he is ready to go after his long lay-off. But Mashoor makes the most appeal on the grounds of value after an encouraging effort in a tougher race at Fakenham last time. He is still learning his trade and could easily rid himself of the maiden tag if he builds on his latest effort today. Beeches Girl is best of the rest.
