In our view the shortlist for the claimer consists of Hatch, Blue Empire, Emaradia and Fission ahead of Knight On the Tiles and, possibly, Turf Princess, with our vote going to Hatch. The first-three named come out best on official ratings and adjusted marks so clearly hold chances. That said, Fission looks to have a few lengths to find with Emaradia based on their runs here over six furlongs last time. Blue Empire is a seven-furlong winner at Southwell and ran well enough at Lingfield last time, and although he did not seem to find too much in the finish there, he should be more at home at this level. However, the selection gets the nod by virtue of some good runs in decent maidens last season. Admittedly, she pulled hard when running unplaced at Ascot in her final run, but connections are very canny and would surely not be running her here unless they felt she had some sort of chance. A possible downside is that she has yet to encounter this surface. As a course and distance winner, Turf Princess comes into the reckoning, while Knight On the Tiles is another to consider if able to transfer his Turf form to fibresand. However, in an interesting race of its kind, we'll side with Hatch.
