John Gosden won last year’s renewal having also trained the winner of both divisions in 2018 and EMPEROR SPIRIT looks to have every chance this time. The latter finished an unlucky second over 7f here when failing to get a clear run on a couple of occasions. Inigo Jones and stablemate Zikany failed to threaten on their respective debuts but have scope with the former preferred today partnered by Ryan Moore while Miss Zenlingus wasn’t beaten that far when only sixth at Kempton and Spy Legend posted an improved effort at Lingfield last time. Western Alliance is a half-brother to a Group 3 winner and makes more appeal than Day Trader and Punta Arenas of the newcomers.
