Benedict Spirit won well here on Monday over 1m4f and the David Evans-trained gelding has to be respected under his penalty for that success but he has yet to prove that he stays two miles and may be worth taking on with preference for CALCULATING, who gets the nod over Rose Row. Mary Hambro's mare disappointed at Kempton two stars ago but ran much better when chasing home Sinbad The Sailor at Lingfield over this trip last time and she has every chance racing off the same mark today. Peter Cundell's Alnwick has the beating of Rose Row on their Kempton running behind Alsadaa and he has to be considered off the same mark today, with the possibility of improving for that run that was his first since October. Admirable Duque bounced back to winning ways when landing a handicap here over 1m6f last month and he is another to be respected but a 5lb rise for that latest success makes this more difficult. Alan King's Silk Hall is very useful over hurdles but is probably just using this as a prep race for the Coral Cup at Cheltenham in two weeks time and a better bet looks to be Calculating. Mark Usher's gelding would not be winning out of turn were he to oblige here having found one too good in each of his last four starts but he has surprisingly not been punished by the handicapper for his consistency and can gain a deserved success off just a 2lb higher mark than when narrowly beaten at Southwell last month.
