Kaveri gets the vote as the selection, while Writ and Buy On The Red are others expected to go close in a tough handicap. Buy On The Red finally got his just reward with a comfortable win here on New Year's eve and should cope with his penalty. The William Muir-trained gelding responded well for James Doyle and, as he takes a valuable 3lb off with his claim, the partnership have a solid each-way chance today. Writ brushed aside the likes of Prince Dayjur and Marko Jadeo when they met over c&d a fortnight ago and is a good bet to confirm the form in spite of being set to carry a 6lb penalty. Ian Semple's charge acts well on this track and, as he still has scope for improvement, he is fancied to be involved in the thick of the action this afternoon. However, the vote goes to Kaveri, who is bred to appreciate the surface and, having held her own against stiffer opposition in the past, she has a solid chance in this company. Obviously top weight makes life difficult for her today, but the Clive Brittain-trained filly is fancied to appreciate this ease in grade and further boost the coffers for her in-form trainer.
