In depth

Verdict

ISLAND FLAME beat the in-form Celtic Artisan, due to run in the previous race, when scoring here last time. John Butler’s charge is preferred to King Oswald, who has slipped down the weights since scoring at Newcastle at the start of the year but returned a losing favourite at Yarmouth last month. Caribbean Spring is not the most reliable but landed a course and distance double earlier this season and could also be in the mix. The Third Man could go well back on the all-weather today but Rakematiz and Champagne Rules were both well beaten on their respective returns from a lay-off.
