Having raced wide off the bend at Epsom last time, SEXTANT (NAP) found himself with too much ground to make up in the straight. He’d won nicely at Ascot before that and Sir Michael Stoute’s charge gets another chance in this. Big Kitten has been knocking at the door on the all-weather though is 10lb higher than last year’s success at Newcastle but Speed Company found only one too good humping a big weight at York last time. Oasis Fantasy only won a lower grade contest at Lingfield last month and Banditry is preferred on a placed effort over 1m2f here while Fire Fighting has plenty to find with the selection on Epsom form.
Sextant 2-1fav (9-0) Held up behind, headway into mid-division on outside over 5f out, chased leaders 3f out, driven over 2f out, ridden and kept on same pace final furlong, 4th of 11, 3 1/4l behind Soto Sizzler (8-5) at Epsom 1m 4f hcp (2) gf in Jun.
Big Kitten (USA) 5-1 (9-7) Mid-division, tracked leaders over 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, ridden into 2nd inside final furlong, kept on, not reach winner, 2nd of 12, 1 3/4l behind Desert Wind (9-7) at Kempton 1m 4f hcp (3) pol in Jun.
Banditry (IRE) 25-1 (9-7) Always close up, went 2nd 5f out, ridden to lead 2f out, headed just over 1f out, not quicken when squeezed out inside final furlong, 3rd of 5, 2 1/4l behind Waarif (9-4) at Windsor 1m 2f hcp (3) gf in May.
Speed Company (IRE) 4-1jfav (10-3) Held up in last pair, headway in centre chasing leaders over 2f out, went 2nd over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, not reach winner, 2nd of 19, 1/2l behind Auxiliary (8-13) at York 1m 4f hcp (4) sft in Jun.
Oasis Fantasy (IRE) 6-1 (9-9) Made all, stayed on well, unchallenged, won at Lingfield 1m 4f hcp (4) gf in May beating Lawn Ranger (9-5) by 1/2l, 5 ran.
Fire Fighting (IRE) 20-1 (9-4) Slowly into stride, held up, never dangerous, 12th of 14, 10 1/2l behind Island Brave (9-5) at Ayr 1m 5f hcp (2) gd in Jun.
