In depth

Verdict

Dear Maurice could still be ahead of the handicapper and Ed Dunlop's colt should be backed until he loses. This 240,000 guineas son of Indian Ridge has hit top form this season with two wins over this course and distance. A mark of 72 at the start of his handicapping career evidently underestimated him. He has a 9lb rise in the weights to overcome but he is certainly progressive and he should run well. Guilded Warrior is consistent but the handicapper is unrelenting with him and he is still paying the price for a hat-trick of wins last Summer. Hucking Heist, a debut winner at Lingfield, could be anything and the stable are on the crest of a wave at present, whilst Rambling Light has something to find with the selection on their clash thirteen days ago. Red Somerset will appreciate this quicker ground and the drop in trip, but it really was an abject display last time and he needs to prove his well-being. This could prove to be a golden opportunity for Dear Maurice to win again.
