It's no surprise connections of HOOLIGAN SEAN have opted for this and not a handicap; hopeful their decision pays dividends with a victory from Blackdown Boy and Zip Lock. Henry Candy's charge took third in what looked a warm maiden at Salisbury last time and while the well-touted second Give Your Verdict has been beaten since, he went down fighting. That was our selection's first outing of the year and he can be expected to improve, especially with this drop down to six furlongs set to suit. He's probably not up to winning a handicap off a lofty mark of 83 on what we've seen so far, but may be up to winning this. Blackdown Boy ran a fair race when third last time despite being a beaten odds-on favourite. That was over five furlongs and today's test should be more suitable, however he didn't appear to relish quick ground at Bath and that has to be a concern. Jeremy Noseda saddled the horse that beat Give Your Verdict, so he should know where he stands here with Zip Lock. He was most disappointing when sent off a well supported favourite last term but clearly had shown plenty at home and if support comes once more it may pay to take notice, as this 220,000 euro purchase should be capable of much better. Mushy Peas is hard to assess but makes some paper appeal, being out of a Dr Devious mare, which suggests he should be able to operate over this trip on debut. Fellow newcomer Delaware Dancer may be seen to better effect when handicapping later on so of more interest is Bidruma, who looks to be progressing although the form of her last effort doesn't amount to much. Hooligan Sean is probably not an 83-rated sort, but he still should go close to landing this.
