Lady Of The Court wasn’t entirely disgraced on her first run for Heather Main at Newbury. Starlight Mystery won twice early last year but she’s struggled since and is a lot more exposed than her rivals. Golden Iris was beaten a long way off this mark at Sandown so this should chiefly concern WORTH WAITING (NAP) and Contrive. The former made it third-time lucky in a maiden at Redcar last month and is capable of further progress. She is giving 4lb to the Goodwood second but, on a line through Ganayem, should still come out on top.
Worth Waiting 1-2fav (8-9) Close 5th, smooth headway on outside into 2nd 2f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, soon clear, stayed on well, won at Redcar 1m 2f mdn stks (5) gf in May beating Roddy (10-0) by 1 1/2l, 11 ran.
Contrive (IRE) 25-1 (8-10) Towards rear, pushed along 3f out, ridden and headway approaching final furlong, ran on to go 2nd near finish, 2nd of 13, 1l behind Ganayem (9-3) at Goodwood 1m fll stks (5) sft in Jun.
Golden Iris 7-1 (9-1) Outpaced in rear, never dangerous, 8th of 9, 15 1/4l behind Preening (9-7) at Sandown 1m hcp fll (4) gf in Jun.
Starlight Mystery (IRE) 25-1 (9-6) Prominent, led after 1f, driven when challenged over 2f out, headed over 1f out, soon weakened, 5th of 9, 6 1/2l behind Beringer (9-8) at Sandown 1m 2f hcp (4) gf in Jun.
