A wide open beginning to proceedings, with CARMELA MARIA a tentative pick ahead of Arlene Phillips and Lunar River. Stuart Williams' filly has had a couple of pleasing runs recently when placed at Folkestone and Warwick. This is a slight step down in trip, to the one at which she recorded her only success, albeit that was on the Polytrack at Great Leighs. Arlene Phillips looks the pick of Richard Hannon's two runners here. Lightly raced, she's shown plenty of improvement in her last couple of runs. She's got almost two stones in hand on the top weight Shesha Bear. Lunar River won at Lingfield three runs back over this trip, but is far from consistent. She's likely to be held up for a late charge. Her only win on turf came nearly three years ago. It's a trappy opener, with marginal preference being for Carmela Maria.
