Verdict

An interesting finale sees Dear Gracie, Magic Peak and Juicy Fruits shortlisted, although Selkirk Lady is among those to keep an eye on for the future, with the selection being Dear Gracie. And Again showed plenty of promise on her debut last summer but, on jockey bookings, Dear Gracie, who showed promise when third on her Nottingham debut, looks the stronger stable representative, and even though that race is throwing out mixed messages, the daughter of In The Wings can go well today. Well-bred, Juicy Fruits has to be considered, while James Eustace's 48,000 guineas daughter of Woodman, Lady Galadriel, has to get a mention. Magic Peak, who cost 230,000 guineas, stuck to the task well when second at Warwick last time and is a danger to all, while Musical Echo has shown promise in each start although the feeling is that improvement again will be needed for her to play a leading part today. Much as Silk Purse was cheaply acquired, her breeding suggests ability, but Spinning World showed little on her debut and Valdemosa might prove better over a longer trip. Finally, Walter Swinburn runs two here, which are Selkirk Lady - who is closely related to the top-class Shady Heights and John Gosden's Marcel Boussac winner Sulk - and Princess Danah, a Danehill half-sister to six winners, so keep an eye on them, but, for today, we will side with Dear Gracie.
