Verdict

Profondo Rosso hasn't done as well as expected since landing a Brighton maiden on soft ground in August though his last two runs have been over 1m2f in quick conditions. Laughing Jack made all over 1m2f on fast going here in April but was well beaten in Lingfield's Derby Trial subsequently. He'll find this grade more to his liking but may find conceding Ree's Rascal and WHISTLE ON BY weight beyond him. The former gained a very easy victory here last month before finding things much tougher from his new mark in a stronger Sandown handicap and should go well though Barry Hills' colt gets the vote as he was only just touched off by the progressive England Rules over the C&D last month and shapes as though there is better to come. Malice Or Mischief, who has won seven races to date, can never be ruled out and is still reasonably treated.
