Afta Party, still a maiden after 14 starts, started a short-priced favourite at Newcastle after a close second at Southwell but ran poorly. Mabre has managed to win five races and will have needed his comeback in August after a break while Fourshadesofsilver's only success came over a mile on ground with give. RAMPAGE showed little in maiden and novice company but attracted support on his handicap debut over a mile at Thirsk and was only headed close home. Normal progress can see him gain his first success though Laurentia, who has had just four runs on Turf, would be a threat if transferring her all-weather form where she's won five races.
