      Verdict

Leading Spirit was beaten almost eight lengths over this trip at Yarmouth and was then outpaced here over 5f. He is clearly not one of Godolphin’s best two-year-olds, though this represents a drop in class. Oloroso finished last on debut at Newmarket but the extra furlong here two weeks ago saw him in a much better light and he should go close again. Nottingham third My Dear Friend is also improving with experience but Dunkerron is likely to need further than this. The newcomers in this look a mixed bunch but the Acclamation colt Dirty Rascal made 58,000gns as a yearling and PRIVATE ROCKET cost €280,000. The latter is by Dark Angel out of a 5f winner so is bred to be speedy and his yard’s two-year-olds boast a good strike-rate here.
