In depth

Verdict

Emotive is at the top of his game and can make it three wins in a row, Woodcote Place and October Ben look to be the main rivals. Ian Wood's gelding had shown plenty of promise in April before everything came right at the end of May. He scooted up at Leicester on good to soft before following up at Warwick on much faster ground. He could still be ahead of the handicapper and he can land the hat-trick. Woodcote Place looked on the way back to his best last time when chasing home Deeper In Debt. He should go close despite carrying top-weight. October Ben returned to winning ways on the all-weather at Kempton last time. His previous turf form was also of a decent standard and he could run into a place at a decent price. The pick of the others could be Mucho Loco, but it is hard to ignore Emotive in this mood and he gets our vote.
