With his stable now in form, Sugar Ray is taken to outpoint Midsummer Fun and Hibiki, with Granary worth noting for the future. Sugar Ray was put away after finishing in mid-division on his Newbury debut over seven-furlongs last September, and was then upped to a more suitable 10-furlongs on his return to action at Newmarket last month. The son of Danehill finished a creditable third, showing more than enough to suggest that he can repay a bit of his 290,000gns purchase price at least. Midsummer Fun is a full-sister to Breeders' Cup Turf winner Johar, and with Godolphin also sending out winners now, she should go well. Hibiki stayed on well at the end of his debut over a mile here last week, and being bred for middle-distances, will relish the step up in trip, so should not be discounted, and of the rest, Granary looks a nice prospect on breeding, the dam being a full-sister to Pure Grain. For the winner we return to Sugar Ray.
