In depth

Verdict

A cracking chase with four course winners in opposition. Peccadillo has been in good form, but this is a big step up in class for him and he is passed over. Celibate seems to have lost his way, while Wave Rock makes a return to the larger obstacles having had a couple of confidence boosters over hurdles. He goes well fresh and looks sure to give a good account. Upgrade is a moody, if somewhat capable customer, but he looks to have plenty on at the weights. Paul Nicholls sets a poser saddling both Poliantas and Valley Henry. The former has yet to finish out of the first two since turning his attentions to chasing, but he faces a stiff task here and preference is for Valley Henry, who has had his problems jumping fences, especially when going this way round, but he has done plenty of schooling in the meantime and is taken to win a fascinating contest.
