A competitive hurdle to start the card with the in-form Noel's Pride heading the weights. Malcom Jefferson's gelding has been in cracking form through the summer, but raised another 3lbs by the Handicapper for getting beat last time looks enough to stop him. Cill Churnain is another who comes into this at the top of his form and must go well in this, but a chance is taken with the lightly weighted Ballylusky, who made a pleasing debut in this country, over a trip which would have been on the sharp side for him. Back over a more suitable trip, he can gain his first success this side of the water.
