Roddy The Vet can make the most of the weight that he receives from Quid Pro Quo, with Roman Court also expected to make his presence felt. Roddy The Vet gets very nearly two stone from Quid Pro Quo here and that must surely tilt the scales in his favour as he bids to defy a seven-pound penalty for a recent gutsy effort at Plumpton. That was the gelding's first victory since landing a bumper at Gowran Park four years ago so he has retained some ability at least, and providing the ground does not dry up, he can show that last week's achievement was no fluke. Quid Pro Quo will go close no doubt after tackling better company at Newbury where a mistake at the cross-fence cooked his goose, but that weight is a big worry. Roman Court was fortunate to collect at Southwell in January and was having his first outing since when fourth to Meggie's Beau at Huntingdon last month. He should come on for that but needs to brush up his jumping, and we have no hesitation in putting up the lightly-weighted Roddy The Vet as the answer.
