Thenford Star can help get Alan King back on track, with Petit Lord, Norton Sapphire and La Marette others to consider in this large field. Trainer Alan King had such a purple patch a few weeks ago that it was bound to be noticed when the winners dried up. With Cheltenham looming large on the horizon, you can be sure that normal service will be resumed at Barbury Castle sooner rather than later, and Thenford Star is expected to help lead the charge. The six-year-old has won two out of her three outings this term, at Huntingdon and more recently Fakenham where she took off on the run-in to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. She goes well round here, and although higher in the weights now, is sure to be bang in there at the finish. Petit Lord has looked nothing special in three starts in this country, and is biding his time before going chasing no doubt. He has too much weight, while La Marette is fully exposed and always seems to find a couple too good. Norton Sapphire may be a bigger danger as she drops back to a more suitable trip and is in form, but in a race in which quite a few can be ruled out for one reason or another, we rely on Thenford Star to bring home the bacon.
