We'll take a chance with Ken Scott here ahead of Alka International, Goldbrook and The Gene Genie and, possibly Maldoun and Night Driver. Okay, the selection has not quite progressed as expected following a decent juvenile win at Huntingdon last season but, lightly-raced, he should have some improvement to come. Alka International is now back on a winning and comes here fit so, despite being 11 years of age, is entitled to his supporters. Goldbrook's winning run came to an end at Ascot last time, but he lost little in defeat there and is capable of running well again. The Gene Genie came good over course and distance last time, which was a good effort and, despite being six pounds higher in the ratings, his claiming rider takes off five. Of the others, Petanque might possibly be vulnerable off topweight; The Biker has been a bit disappointing since looking good as a juvenile; Maldoun is a novice winner who has suggested that further will suit, so the softer the better for him; Tarboush has lots of natural ability but has yet to win over hurdles; Ranelagh Gray won a weak event at Folkestone on heavy last time; Isam Top has bits of form and will like the going; Night Driver was a fair second to Forbearing at Taunton last time and, lightly raced, is at least at the right end of the weights, while Boing Boing has won his juvenile events but it will be interesting to see how he fares in handicap company. Overall, then, it's far from being straightforward, and Ken Scott gets only a tentative vote.
