In depth

Verdict

As And When only found one too good in a bumper here last month and stablemate The Last But One was second in a Listowel bumper on his only previous start. Clondaw Shane was only beaten a length here on his hurdles bow but it might be significant that the champion jockey prefers Strong Pursuit, who wasn’t disgraced either on his debut under Rules at Ascot. African Tiger has a NH pedigree but makes his racecourse debut whereas Dltripleseven has won twice over staying trips on the level and gets a hefty three-year-allowance. It will probably take a smart performance to prevent CHOCALA opening his account over hurdles as he was only worn down close home by Reigning Supreme at Newbury on his return to jumping having won over 2m on the Flat at Chester in August.
