From our shortlist of Lord Halfnothin, Joe Deane, Quiet Water and Robyn Alexander, the vote goes to Robyn Alexander. The selection looks fairly assessed based on his course and distance win of last season and, having had a pipe-opener for the current campaign, can go well under Christian Williams. Lord Halfnothin won three from four as a novice and, again, looks fairly treated so can also go well, given that he has run well fresh in the past. Quiet Water looked good when beating Miss Cool at Newton Abbot last season and should win races this time around, while Joe Deane comes from a stable in form, even though the best of his form has come over longer trips. Of the others, Hiers de Brouage is now one pound below the mark from which he won in March 2003 and has also won over course and distance. However, our idea of the winner today is Robyn Alexander.
