In depth

Verdict

Plenty of winners look set to come out of this first race and if you can get the chance to do so, it may be wise to video it. Magic of Sydney comes here after an unexpected win at Folkestone last time out. Richard Rowe's charge beat some decent types on the day but he looks to have his work cut out in giving weight away to his rivals today. Shareef is currently rated 120 and although he has yet to get his head infront over the larger obstacles, he has not been disgraced behind Isio and Montreal. Strictly speaking, Nicky Henderson should have a line of form on that one as he trained the former. He sends out Irish Hussar was last seen out in the Royal & SunAlliance Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham. Although the market will tell of his chances, on racecourse evidence, he would have ideally preferred a little more juice in the ground. The TEAMtalk selection is Ask Henry. Paul Nicholls' former Irish pointer will have learnt a lot for his first experience under rules at Newbury and the stable team are in decent form at the moment. Of the remainder, Aberfoyle Park, makes some appeal. He was pitched in at the deep end against the likes of Iris Royal and Bold Investor at Newbury and with the Alner team posting a couple of winners in the last few weeks, there is every chance of improvement.
