Verdict

Pennyforapound was 2-2 in points but makes his debut under Rules. Kearney Hill won bumpers at Musselburgh and Doncaster in February and Moon King, a six-times winner on the Flat, will have learned plenty from his fourth at Kelso. Ashtown Lad was only beaten half-a-length by an odds-on favourite over track and trip on his reappearance but the vote goes to BRIEF AMBITION, who was also second to a useful novice at Uttoxeter with the winner going close in a Cheltenham handicap subsequently.
