Verdict

Not the most auspicious way to round off the first of two days of racing at Wetherby but it is still quite a competitively framed race for the grade. And Irish Distinction, who arrives here in fair form, is taken to get the better of Scrippit and Fly Kicker judging by recent efforts - although Sir Homo is definitely one to monitor in the betting as he has claims on the best of his performances. However, he is a long-standing maiden and is a risky proposition despite hailing from a shrewd yard. And, like the majority of the field, he also lacks consistency and may find this a tough assignment, despite being set to receive 26lbs from the top weight. Therefore, Rapt may be a safer option for each way punters as he has taken well to the winter game and he should pay his way at this sort of level as the season goes on. But Irish Distinction sets a fair standard and remains the one to beat for us.
