In depth

Verdict

Fionn Mac Cul has a penalty for a narrow victory in heavy going at Taunton where he appeared to need every yard of the 2m3f trip. Philip Hobbs and Richard Johnson are represented by NO COMMENT, who made a promising start in a Ludlow bumper and is the first foal of a mare from a very smart jumping family. He'll know his job and can make a successful start over timber. Rushvale followed a decent effort at Wincanton with a moderate run at Market Rasen and will need to do better but The Dutchman looked a decent type when just beaten at Ayr and looks certain to make further progress. Lamanver Alchemy, who won a Warwick bumper in November, was beaten a long way when runner-up over hurdles there last month.
