Verdict

Mares only races are never strong but the racecourse must be bitterly disappointed at the lack of entries for a decent prize. Ile Maurice has given all the signs that she is a stout soft ground stayer and she should be up to seeing off Diklers Rose. Ferdy Murphy's charge was ineligible for the big Mares race at Newbury and while she is attempting to give away a double penalty, her rider does offset 7lbs. Diklers Rose is surprisingly put up in trip this afternoon. She had shown fair form over two miles in the past and this will test all her reserves of stamina. Unfortunately Camden Bella did not do anything to give the Ayr form a boost so we are prepared to go against her. Classic Sight would have a squeak on old National Hunt Flat form while Verstone is exposed. Deep Rising is making a debut under rules at eight years of age. Ile Maurice looks difficult to get away from and we will seek not to oppose.
