In depth

Verdict

Ashmolian has run well in his last two starts and has solid claims of opening his account over hurdles today but he may again have to settle for minor honours in a race taken to go to ALWAYS BOLD, who gets the vote ahead of Tiger O'Toole. The Evan Williams-trained gelding has run creditably in recent starts over timber and should be thereabouts at the finish but Always Bold, who was useful on the flat for Mark Johnston and has shown improved form over timber of late, has more solid claims and he is preferred. Micky Hammond's Amir Pasha has been well beaten in recent starts over hurdles and on the flat and looks best watched, while Miss Carroll has shown no sign of encouragement so far. Paul Webber's Tribe was well held on his hurdling debut but should come on for that outing and he has to be considered. Always Bold has an obvious chance though and he is preferred.
