In depth

Verdict

King Plato was given an ultra confident ride by Paul Robson at Worcester and with a rating of 90. There is still a chance that Micky Hammond's inmate is ahead of the handicapper but the worry is that he performed miserably on a faster surface on his only encounter with it. He may therefore be worth taking on at short odds. Mr Laggan makes some appeal. Kate Milligan's stable are in good form and the horse has been consistent in staying chases. This Thyne reportedly improved for a change of bridle last time out. He beat the terminally disappointing Knockholt over three miles last time out and should be thereabouts when others have cried enough. The Merry Mason is selected as the TEAMtalk selection in the nightcap. He is hardly the greatest performer in the Ashleybank Investments portfolio but he responded well enough to pressure to record his first victory at Market Rasen a couple of weeks ago. He races off a 4lb lower mark today and should not be dismissed off such a lowly rating.
