TREVIAN is the one to beat on the evidence shown so far, and unless any of the newcomers are anything special, then we will take Tim Vaughan's gelding to flourish. Exposed as moderate on the flat, it is unlikely that the selection will prove to be much better over hurdles, however his two runs have been filled with promise. His trainer only sends two horses to the meeting and whilst stamina may still be a slight concern, the hope is that he can last home. Sorento Moon is a potential improver after his fair enough effort in a recent seller, whilst Cape Dancer and Cosby Jemma have both shown some semblance of ability in two starts apiece. March Mate, Boy Dancer, Motafarred and Sendale look to be the most interesting of the newcomers, with March Mate seen as the biggest threat. Bryan Ellison won this race last year with Hue and although March Mate is not as highly rated on the flat, this four-year-old should give a good account of himself. Motafarred is rated in the mid-seventies on the level and whilst stamina is not necessarily assured, having won over a mile and a half on the flat when trained in Ireland it would be a surprise were he not to stay the trip. Night Force has had one start so far, finishing fifth in a bumper at Catterick, but with the stable in such good form it would be unwise not to include him on any shortlist. A competitive finale, in which we will plump for Tim Vaughan's Trevian.
