    Verdict

The market should provide a good guide to what is expected of these with 13 of the 18 lining up newcomers. The race has been won by smart sorts in recent years, most notably Alfie Flitts. It may prove to side with experience and give DONNY BRIGGS the vote. Tim Easterby's charge made his debut two weeks ago in a similar Haydock bumper which was run at a snails pace before developing into a sprint at the top of the straight. Donny Briggs appeared one of those unsuited by the pedestrian early pace and a larger field here should ensure a stronger gallop throughout. Cesium, a half-brother to Cerium, was weak in the market on debut and ran accordingly. His jockey is an eye-catching booking though and should he attract support do take note. Sweet Shock, a half-brother to Sweet Wake would also be of interest if market confidence is illustrated prior to the off as his noteworthy connections have proved in the past that they are capable of landing a 'touch'. Billy The Gas, stablemate of Donny Briggs is another newcomer of note while Jennie Candlish's Portland Row, a half-brother to last seasons smart bumper performer Touch Of Irish is another interesting racecourse debutant. Donny Briggs is selected to win at the second time of asking.
