Verdict

Quite an open contest and not too many can confidently be ruled out. Therefore it is not with the utmost conviction that Dream On Willie is handed the burden of selection over Super Nomad, Spokesman and October Mist. Another to consider has to be Scotmail Lad, who arrives here with a sound chance at the weights but will need a little more rain to be seen at his best. So Dream On Willie, who has done little wrong since out-battling Celioso over course and distance at the start of last month, is given the vote in the hope that he arrives here in the same frame of mind for this closely-matched handicap. The Eric Elliot-trained gelding is capable of acting on any ground and will relish a fight if he is asked to dig deep in the closing stages - an attribute that has let a few of his main rivals down in the past. So, Dream On Willie is taken to come out on top with his light weight decreased even further by Andrew Tinkler's 5lb claim.
