Verdict

Storm Surge is only a pound higher than when winning this last year but hasn't been seen since finishing well beaten at Carlisle in February. My Condor is capable of running well fresh, however, and can't be ignored off bottom weight. Donald McCain's gelding is preferred to Norborne Bandit, who has managed only one win from 26 starts over fences. Hazeldene needs to improve on what he's shown so far over the larger obstacles but BORDER REIVER has got his act together lately and can improve an already impressive record at this track, even though today's drop in distance may not be in his favour.
