Barry Hills has won this a couple of times in recent years and, with the best of the draw and a C&D victory to his credit, CAPTAIN BERTIE looks the one to beat after his promising return in the Esher Cup at Sandown where he had Kingscroft a long way behind. The latter ran no sort of race that day and is much better than that as he showed earlier when not far behind Belle Royale at Beverley. With a 4lb pull he should be thereabouts though stablemate Crown Counsel may prove the stronger after a fair effort at Newmarket last week. All four of First Class Favour's victories last season came on Catterick's sharp track so she should be at home here.
