Soft Spoken Guy is hard to assess as his form profile over fences is rather uneven. He's clear by some way on official ratings but was a disappointment when finishing last of three at Kelso this month and looks best suited by some cut in the ground. In contrast, GLOBAL FLYER put up his best display by far when scoring here under another clever Andrew Thornton chase ride recently, ultimately scoring with plenty of authority. He can go in again, although any money for War Footing after a lengthy absence would need to be heeded. He has some useful form in the book over fences and it's interesting that Brendan Powell has chosen to venture north for this belated reappearance.
