A very tricky finale and Alternator is a far from confident choice even though he is set to benefit from the assistance of Tony McCoy and has the experience of run behind him. Quaterback and My Friend Fritz make the most appeal from the rest with experience, while Monsignorita is a newcomer of interest. The last named is out of the dam of the classy Monsignor and races in the same colours. She is one to keep tabs on in the betting. My Friend Fitz has been on the sidelines for over two years since he ran in a similar contest at Stratford in 2004. There are bills to be paid and it is interesting that his connections have persevered with him. Another to note in the betting is Oscar Jewel, who has experience of point-to-points and would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to figure strongly at this level. However, Alternator easily makes the most appeal on the evidence available and this half-brother to Accordello is fancied to make McCoy's journey to Warwick a worthwhile one if he shows the anticipated improvement.
