Super Lord is preferred to Basilea Star and Howrwenow. A winner in Irish points, Super Lord made an impressive debut over hurdles for Jim Old. The handler has sought to waste little time over the smaller obstacles and the first run over the larger obstacles is tried. An imposing sort - he has plenty of gears and has to be given a fair chance of following up his recent victory. Basilea Star is an intriguing runner in the race. He was third in the Irish version of the Stayers Hurdle last year for the Ferdy Murphy stable. David Johnson paid a fair sum for him over the summer so the market is watched to see just how forward he is today. Howrwenow is no superstar but he seems to run consistently enough. He surely has a race in him but there are two decent recruits up against him this afternoon. Rowley Hill is from an in-form yard and should go well at a price. Sungates is a dour stayer who needs plenty of rain. Lord Of Ardaghey and Patriarch will win races although our confidence in them has been weakened severely by the form of their respective yards. Super Lord looks like he could go places and this would be an ideal base to start from.
