In depth

Verdict

Staying will be the name of the game on this dead ground and that should suit Mr Gisby, who can take it from Dante Citizen, Good Thyne Guy and Hanover Square. The selection remains on the same mark as when a three length winner from Jawwala at Fakenham in October, when he did well to defy a six month absence. Given plenty of time to recover from those exertions, he should be plenty fresh enough again and looks the type to do well over further, so he is taken to follow up in this moderate contest. The others are all pretty much one-pacers, and those include Hanover Square. Despite his yard's great form at present, he has yet to win, though does stay all day and should be good enough to plod into a place. Others who will challenge for minor honours are Dante Citizen and Good Thyne Guy. The former is the more likely of the two, judged on his three and a half length second to Blasket Sound at Uttoxeter last time out, while the latter was probably flattered by his proximity to the winner last time out, though a repeat of that effort might get him in the money. For the selection though, we will go with Mr Gisby.
