Malaath, Tifernati and Slate are the three to look at here and Malaath is taken to maintain his unbeaten record. Tifernati had only the one outing as a juvenile, showing a little promise, but stepped up on that when getting up close home at Kempton on his re-appearance. He is respected, but this looks a tougher assignment. Slate was just held by Proper on his first run of the year, and that one has won again since. Slate concedes weight all round here, but his form is solid and he must go well. Malaath won well on her debut at Lingfield last year and makes her seasonal re-appearance here. She is well bred, and looks set to appreciate a step up in trip in due course, but can take this contest en route to better things.
