In depth

Verdict

DEVIL'S CREEK is the suggestion; Nelson has been running well whilst Incorporation has won here in the past. The selection's Rules debut came over fences and saw him pull-up and all of his subsequent outings have been over hurdles. The best performance of his career came on his most recent outing and he may be able to build on that back over birch. Nelson has made the frame on his last three starts over a variety of trips under a variety of conditions. The evidence suggests that he should run his race which may be enough to see him go close. Incorporation's four wins have all been achieved over shorter and he's still 5lbs higher than for his last success so he has enough to do before his recent form is taken into account but this wouldn't be the strongest race. Major Euro's last two wins have come at Newbury and he's only made the frame once in six starts here but he is back on a winning mark. Arceye carried all before him in the spring of last year but has struggled to recapture that form and may still be too high in the weights. Devil's Creek may emerge as the best of this bunch on the day.
