The most competitive race brings the card to a close, and Grand Lass can just have the edge over Cristoforo and Great View. The selection has been kept going well by her trainer and comes here on the same mark as when third over 12 furlongs at Southwell on Monday. This trip will be more suitable for her, and as she has already acted well with some cut we will side with her to get back to winning ways. Cristoforo could be a big danger, judged on some impressive form on the level in December 2002, when he won three races on the all weather at trips ranging from nine to 13 furlongs. He also ran well in three hurdles last autumn and has not been seen since. Shrewd trainer Barney Curley has had him ready to win fresh in the past and it would be no surprise to see a repeat, so watch the market for a gamble. Great View has a 10 furlong win at Newbury last July and a Polytrack win over 1m 5f last time to his name. That most recent success has meant a 7lb penalty here, but he has run well in the past without winning and can do the same again here. Of the others Orinocovsky drops back to a more suitable trip but is unproven on the ground, Heathyards Pride is unexposed but also needs to prove that he handles cut and the same applies to Call Of The Wild, who has been upped 3lb for finishing a length third at Wolverhampton last time and does not look well treated. For the selection then, we return to Grand Lass.
