In depth
Verdict
Thabaat looks the obvious form contender here and he gets the verdict ahead of Arabian Word and Desert Soul. The Barry Hills trained colt ran a blinder on his debut, chasing home the well regarded Prince Forever. The third has since franked the form and as the Hills trained two-year-old's tend to improve with racing, he does look to have very strong claims. Mark Johnston's Desert Soul was quietly fancied for his Hamilton debut and wasn't given a hard race once his chance had gone. He should come on a bundle and looks a good thing for the places. The pick of the newcomers could be the Sir Michael Stoute trained Arabian Word, an expensive son of Diesis, if supported in the ring take note. Downbeat and Moorlander are from top yards and should improve for their debut efforts, but Thabaat appears to have the best form on show and he gets our vote.
