Mary McPhee started favourite for a similar contest over track and trip in May and was only beaten a neck, though the form hasn't really been franked since. PASTORAL GIRL ran in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and, though never threatening the leaders, did well enough to suggest an ordinary maiden should be within her capabilities - she's well drawn here so gets the vote. Quite Smart was a £58,000 yearling and is speedily bred. She may prove best of the newcomers ahead of Josefa and Seebeedee.
